EmPRO Insurance Expands to New Jersey, Continuing Strategic Growth across Northeast Region

New York Medical Malpractice Insurer Now Writing Business in Four States

EmPRO Insurance Company (“EmPRO” or collectively “the Company”), a subsidiary of Physicians’ Reciprocal Insurers (PRI), and the third largest admitted medical malpractice insurer in New York state, today announced it has been authorized to write business in New Jersey as of June 15th. Having entered the Pennsylvania market in late 2022 and Connecticut earlier this year with plans to add more states in the next 12 months, EmPRO continues to execute its plan to grow into a major insurer throughout the Northeast.

“EmPRO brings a differentiated model to the medical malpractice industry that is getting a positive reception from brokers, large group practices, physicians, and other healthcare professionals,” said Bruce Shulan, President and CEO of EmPRO. “We have proven this in New York, and we’re excited to bring our personalized underwriting services, extreme attention to customer service, and award-winning professional education to the Garden State.”

EmPRO expects to make inroads with the more than 30,000 licensed doctors in the state, as well as the larger physician practice groups and healthcare facilities.

EmPRO offers highly competitive rates, a variety of premium discounts, and empowers medical communities through exceptional customer service, dedicated legal teams, and modern technology such as EmPROConnect, a state-of-the-art suite of web-based tools that is custom-designed to put policy management at insureds fingertips.

“EmPRO’s Board of Directors has laid out an aggressive plan to become the premiere regional medical malpractice carrier,” said Brian Nolan, Executive Vice President and COO of EmPRO. “Since EmPRO’s launch in 2020, we have built upon our reputation as an excellent insurance provider with the medical community’s best interests firmly at heart. We are raising the bar on what healthcare professionals can expect from their liability insurance and are excited to share this expertise with more insureds throughout the Northeast region.”

New Jersey is one of only seven states where doctors must maintain a minimum amount of medical malpractice insurance coverage. According to the National Practitioner Data Bank, New Jersey is home to the seventh most practitioners in the country – 30,773.
